:::nate brown | guitar:::

Guitarist Nate Brown originally hails from Minnesota, though these days he is living on the east coast and performing in New York. Nate attended McNally Smith College of Music (1999) and took his first professional tour with the musical “Chicago” playing tenor banjo, mandolin and ukulele from 2000-2001 during that year he played in 48 of the 50 US states including a three week sit down in both Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Canadian cities such as, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, etc. Living out of a suitcase for 2 years was enough, he left the road the following year while playing guitar and lap steel on a tour of the musical “Swing!” it dropped him off in his home state for his final show at Minneapolis’ Orpheum theatre.
From there he spent his time with his wife in Minneapolis, playing club dates, weddings, jazz gigs, recording, teaching, anything that came by. During that time he played with such Minneapolis friends as Jay Epstein, Cody McKinney, Jay Fuchs and his band Metro Jam, as well as a few gigs alongside the Hornheads (the well known horn section that backs up Prince) but New York was calling so he and his wife moved there soon after to check out that scene.
Shortly after moving Nate was quickly finding gigs, he did two short tours again with “Chicago,” this time it was Taiwan in July, and Edmonton, Banff, and Calgary Canada in November. He also fell into some rock, jazz and occasional folk/country gigs at New York clubs including the Bitter End, Tonic, C-Note, and Pianos, he also began learning more Broadway shows and subbing in that scene.
In February of 2005 Nate recorded his album NORTH COUNTRY MILE alongside two Minneapolis greats Jay Epstein on drums and Anthony Cox on bass. Hand percussionist Aaron Barnell joined the group for three of the albums nine original tracks. This album also featured his newly custom made guitar by builder Dale Nielsen (www.nielsenguitars.com)
Currently Nate is Performing every night at New York’s New Amsterdam Theatre as the guitarist in the orchestra for the Broadway show Mary Poppins
